Will, Burton has done more for snowboarding than any other company. Would you rather Forum had been bought by a ski company or even worse a soy sauce company (like M3 back in the day)? Know your history.

Timby i agree with you competly about the burton thing in the past. Dropping riders that shouldn’t be dropped? That’s a decision for Burton and Burton alone to make. Everyone is cutting back right now. I don’t know what the salary of a global team rider is but I’m sure it’s not a small amount. I doubt it’s ever an easy thing for any company (especially a snowboard company like burton) to drop a rider or not renew their contract. It sucks but it’s a fact of life. It happens in EVERY sport. Just out of curiosity, who would you say they dropped that shouldn’t have been?

Ok. I agree that Tadashi was SIIICK! But let me ask you this…Where is he now? How come no one else has picked him up. As someone who’s been in the industry a bit I can tell you that it takes A LOT more than just being a good rider to be a pro. Let me also ask you this…If you were running Burton’s team and Jake came to you and said ” sales are down HUGE with the recession and we need to cut a couple of riders.” Would you cut Jeremy, or Jussi, or Nico instead of Tadashi? Truth is we don’t know what went on behind the scenes that lead to him not getting his contract renewed. Like I said, it sucks ass. But we shouldn’t go judging a company based on things we know nothing about. Just my opinion. click the link that Tom put in the earlier post on this page. It tells a lot about which companies you should really support.
PS Notice which company is the only BIG one that’s stayed true to BOARDSPORTS!

mads jonhson. I dont think i have seen him do any thing lately also by cutting tadshi i feel that they have proably lost some of the asia market but hey thats just me thinkin on a comment board. also i know mads broke a bone and what not so thats why he doesnt have covarge right now. AND tadshi has been picked up by YES snowboards. Burton got to feel real dumb right now too after gigy rufi has one of the best seasons of his life and now rides for other companys.
What have you done for the industry?
i have been riding smokin snowboards for the past 3 seasons. i work at a bicycle shop and ive been trading bike parts for snowboards, and the guys over there are great people. ive seen a few others this year riding them up on the hill and was stoked to see more people catching on to it. whatever choice of brand you want to support, get an american made snowboard.

Just a reminder that paintbrush park will be closed for a large portion of the day due to a USSA slopestyle competition. The park will be open as soon as possible but please remember there is some clean up to be done after an event. This means there will be people, machines and equipment moving in that area. I’d like to see a daily update on the blog via twitter or something small embedded in the timberlineparks main page that indicates the condition of the terrain parks, and whether open or not. Something like a little widget- A short summary, like a daily twitter update. For example like partly cloudy, wind speed, temp, and maybe a rider input on there. I’d like to know if this is possible?

Hey, I was wondering what kind of cameras you are using for your filming. I want to get into making some videos and am wondering if you have any recommendations for a fairly inexpensive (around $300) HD camcorder that would do the job nicely. I was reading some stuff and people were talking about Flash Memory camcorders because they don’t have a lot of moving parts. Any input would be awesome!

All of the NorthWest Apparel videos have been shot with the Sony HR-11. It runs about $800 and a fisheye or wide angle makes it a really nice shot. It’s HD and very durable. I would reccomend either the HR-11 or the HR-12 which is what the guys over at Premonition Films use. The daily updates on the parks would be extremely nice too!

I like all of your ideas guys. Just keep in mind that I am a one man band with next to no budget. I don’t work for Timberline. I just do this in my spare time. I’ve been looking for ways to incorporate a weather widget in the site but haven’t been able to figure it out. If anyone has any suggestions please holla at me. As far as the Twitter feed goes, I’m not there everyday so it would be hard to be consistent with it. Keep up these discussion…

Here are two weather site I use, The first is based in Hood River but It has LOTS of information including radar, cams and links to lots of place. The chat box people are cool too and will answer questions and stuff. The second is wind on the water which is a wind site but ther is up tp date info for lots of areas as well as previous two weeks and cams for the whole area. Enjoy.

i liked it a lot better when it went down box then flat box.

To: rail guy, if you are in charge of maybe putting in a word for t lines parks? get a little bear mt in the mix and create an all jib park in an ingenius way. i kno some lines in there are narrow. but there has to be a spot that can create the sickest lines. get creative!

I would be psyched to see Glade expanded and built up. Progression parks are super important for younger riders, and for people trying to step up there game. I have been riding for two years…personally, I feel comfortable spinning on the small Glade jumps…but not so much in Conways. I would love to see some sort of middle ground between what Glade currently is, compared to Conways. Glade seems too small (both in jump size and features), but Conways feels a bit too big for me to try new ish. Maybe I just need to get over it, and send it in Conways. But whatev, I would still love to see a more legit progression park.
