Report: Paintbrush “That’s some park”
It’s one thing for a resort to have a fun park. Something everyone can ride and have a good time in. This is essential for any resort to grow its freestyle customer base. But it’s another thing for a resort to build a park that truly tests the limits of not only it’s riders but also what the resort can deal with as far as risk. It’s a delicate balance. I remember when Timberline wouldn’t even allow rails in their parks. We’ve come a long way. And Paintbrush is proof of that.

The jump line is similar to last year minus one step over. However, I think they are built much better this year. The crew addressed the issue of not having enough speed to do much on the first jump by constructing a gigantic start mound. The groomers got the landings damn near perfect. When you hit the sweet spots it’s like you never took off. Today was super windy so we didn’t spend much time hitting the first one. But pointing it from the top straight to the lip sent you directly to the sweet spot. We’ll see how it is when the snow is a little slower. Might have to shorten it up a bit. I’d guess it’s about 40-45 feet right now and the jump couldn’t get any smoother.
With the snow as fast as it was today you had to scrub quite a bit of speed between the first and second jump. I hit them both first today and i sent it DEEP on the second one. I’d guess at about 45-50 for this one with a great take off. However the consensus today was the take off could get a little bit taller just to add a little hight of your air. But considering the snow situation right now, The Crew went above and beyond.
Since the wind kept slowing us down on the first one we just started hitting the second one. Starting from the deck of the first jump sent you almost to the sweet spot every time, depending on what trick you were doing.
After the second jump the first feature is still kind of up in the air. The idea is to have an up box that kicks you up on to a butter pad type thing with a lip that steps down and over a cat track. The idea is sick but I’m not sure if you’ll be able to hold enough speed off the box to clear the cat track. If not they talked about just setting a lip back a bit so its a step up to butter box to step down cat track gap. I prefer the second idea but thats just because I’m not a huge rail guy. It would be sick if it could be wide enough for both. After that there are two jibs set on a small table. The left side has a gap to flat down rail. The right side has what I would guess is about a 15 foot gap to a down box. (Sickest jib in my opinion) Next is the giant propane tank to the wall ride/gap step up rail. Then you have a nice little step up flat bar and ending with a down flat down flat bar.

OHHHHHH JAH T LINE PARK CREY ALLL DAY!!!!! park looks sooo sick, all those rails look soo sick!! I cant wait to start lapping this park
why did it take this long to open this park? it was pretty much built on monday and just sat there festering all week while the great weather taunted everyone.
cool
hah, Hogan- we’ve all learned from your shoulder and the Hogan plants. You’ll be on this within hours I know it. I’m ready to be challenged (they say I’m challenged in this world…anyways), and glad Timberline is capable of putting their riders and customers to this challenge. As it should be.
Park looks sick, jumps look like they need way more up on them. Sorta look like just mellow ride off take offs rather they popping you up there to get inverted.
The jumps have plenty of pop. But it would be nice to have the second take off about 3-4 feet taller just so you’re higher off the deck. But for the amount of snow they have, the crew did an AMAZING job!
freaking looks like it’s gonna be sweet….and huge…..I hope I can hit some of those jibs!
What’s up Adrian, thanks for coming out with us yesterday, and thanks for all the help with crowd control from you and the rest of your crew. Hope you guys got some good shots.
Can’t wait to his this stuff next week!!
